OUR STORY
The birth of what has become Rutherford's Farm, LLC, is like many small family businesses. It started as an optimistic dream, rooted in the fertile soil of happy memories. As a young child, my grandmother, one of the people that I most respected, took me up the hill on the farm where my daddy was raised. There we picked strawberries, which she converted into special treats. So in May 1976, with dreams in my head, we set 3,000 strawberry plants, by hand on our hands and knees, on .4 of an acre. Over the years we have expanded, so that there are now 5 acres of produce, including strawberries and over a dozen additional crops that feed us between mid-April and Thanksgiving. Each year our customers come from multiple surrounding counties, and as far away as Michigan, Alabama, and Florida. Some coincide their vacations with our strawberry season.
We thank you for being a part of our dream for almost 50 years. Our continuing goal is to provide the finest produce, and you will be greeted with a smile and a down-home welcome. We might even swap some stories and lies. Please know that we invite you to weave Rutherford's Farm into the fabric of your dreams and your story. Hopefully, some of your children's and grandchildren's fondest memories will be going up on our hill to pick berries with you to be used in special treats, too.
